Honor Society

National Junior Honor Society is a national honor society that eligible students may be invited to join at the end of their 7th grade year. Membership in this society is based upon excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character and is both an academic and social honor.
To be eligible for membership, students must maintain an overall average of 90 or above and have no individual class grades below 80 each grading period and cannot be assigned to ISS, OSS, or DAEP. In addition, they must also submit the
following: an essay of no more than 300 words explaining why you should be chosen to join NJHS and at least one teacher recommendation.
The time commitment is attending meetings once per month and participation in 10 hours of school and community service projects throughout the year. These service hours can be obtained through activities organized by NJHS or by volunteering in the community through church, scouts, or other activities.
Some of the activities NJHS organizes include drives for food, clothing, or other items for families in need; school dances, yard sales, clean-up days around the school and community, yard work for our elderly or disabled neighbors, and so on. Members are expected to take an active role in service and leadership both through chapter activities as well as in their individual roles in the classroom, athletic teams, and other extracurricular activities.
